This is vintage Brubeck from the fifties when he burst on to the burgeoning West Coast scene with such an impact. The quartet rose swiftly to the top and was soon known throughout the States, leading to appearances in Europe, the Middle East and Japan. The Quartet's success was due to Brubeck's percussive piano style, highly attractive compositions and use of unconventional time signatures allied to the swinging, lyrical, creative lines played by sax man Desmond. An unbeatable combination.
